You say what?

That was my reaction yesterday when I talked to Jason, the Progressive Claims Adjuster. Chip Baker of Baker's RV sent Jason an estimate of repair costs to Mel on Monday. Jason reviewed the estimate and called me yesterday to let me know he had reviewed what Chip had said in his $1200.00 repair estimate and had decided that Chip was too frugal and that he was adding $400.00 to the estimate to make sure everything was done correctly. Needless to say I was speechless, who ever heard of an insurance company upping an estimate by a third? I guess I will now be included in the Loyal Progressive Customers Database. I checked on-line and the check has already been cut and is on the way. It sure strengthens your faith in humanity when a couple of people do the right thing, First Chip in trying to keep the repair costs down and then Progressive making sure there are adequate funds to complete the repairs right.

Yesterday I made another Amazon purchase. I bought a new Tracfone LG LG800G with 1200 Minutes and Triple Minutes for Life!! (Tracfone). I prefer Trakfone to a contract phone because I just don't make that many calls. 1200 minutes will probably last me a year. One of the reasons I replaced my old phone was the 5 on the dial had quit working, so anyone with a 5 in their phone number wasn't going to hear from me. Having retired from the 573 area code that eliminated a lot of friends and acquaintances. I also tried to use 3 + 2, but that wouldn't work either. Rather than loose all those friend I just went on and sprang for a new phone.

A word about the Cedar Cove management that has been more that nice in extending my stay here. Rather than charging a weekly or daily rate for my additional days waiting for repairs, they are just stepping up and prorating the monthly rate. Just another example of the fine management in this park.

Today we have scheduled nothing, but I did get busy this morning and replace the spot mirror that got damaged in the hail storm. This afternoon I will have to check to see if the glue is holding, but even with all that activity I'll still have time to enjoy the good life.

  1. WOW...that is fabulous news. Count your Blessings once more. All insurance companies aren't jerks!

Great news about the Park also. Most parks wouldn't be so understanding making the bottom line about money instead of about helping each other.

    1. I already let Chip know about the increased funds. I know Chip will do right by me and I certainly want to do right by him.

I use a Verizon air card for internet. I had Hughes net with a $5000,00 satellite dish on the roof, but their service became unreliable and Verizon's coverage improved so I switched.

  3. I think that's the same phone I have now. Been with Tracfone for several years, and really like it. That new LG phone is interesting, with everything being "touchy". The triple minutes for life is a great deal too. In my experience, they are really quick to get the minutes on your phone. They make it real easy to switch your account from one phone to another, too. And, you can do most everything on line with them. Hope you enjoy yours.

    1. Russ, I have to agree with your endorsement. I have been with Tracfone for three years now and I've always had good service. The only exception was when the tire blew the other day and I had no bars. Two miles down the road and I was back in business. Doesn't that just figure? Murphy along for the ride again.

  4. I am impressed with your experience with Progressive. When we had a claim recently with State Farm and they just nickled and dimed us to death. We've been with them for 40 years but maybe it's time to look around. Will your rates increase?

    1. Donna, I don't know about the rate, but this is the first claim in 4 years of doing business with them and I think right now they are standing pretty tall.

    1. The phone I'm replacing is also an LG. It's served me well except for the number 5 key.

  7. Glad it's all going so well, and much nicer to read about positive repair stories than the alternative.
