Dodging

As the Whitewater/Baldy fire continues to grow (it's now 216,650 acres) and it is now the largest fire in New Mexico history. We still continue to dodge the bullet. The wind has switched from the north to the south and back again, but it has never settled for very long on an easterly direction. With the fire directly to the west of us the easterly blowing wind would probably make things pretty uncomfortable around here. For those of you who are in areas where Forrest fires are a concern or for those of you just interested in what might be the worst fire season on record the Inciweb reports on all fires across the country (currently 92 in progress). Click on the individual fire for detailed information, maps, pictures and informational statements.

Yesterday I spoke with Chip, the RV repairman and he has finally got some prices out of RVOne in Orlando and is putting together an estimate for the insurance company. He also found out that the parts are probably 4 to 6 weeks away. The plan is next week we will take Mel to their facility and do what is necessary to effect enough of the repairs to make Mel road worthy. Then next fall I'll return to have everything completed. That way I can get out of here and head for the reunion in Hannibal, stop in South Dakota to renew the drivers license and then make my way back here for the fall.

Today the wind is back and kicking up so activity will be limited to what can be done one handed whole holding on with the other. We still should be able to enjoy the good life.

    1. Best would be for the winds to evaporate and the monsoon to arrive to put an end to all this.

  3. Thanks for the link to Inciweb. I will bookmark it for future reference.

Glad you are finally getting somewhere with the repairs. Yes, you do want to get to that reunion. You know the saying...they only talk about the ones that aren't there.

    1. You're welcome. Full-timing requires a few more tools.
I've got to be at the reunion, I don't want to be The topic of conversation. That would be too boring for them.
