Claim started

This morning Chip of Bakers RV repair stopped by and looked over the damage from the blowout and suggested that a claim should be filed with Progressive because he feels the damage is going to well exceed the amount of the deductible. Since then I've been on the phone to Progressive and a claim has been started. I should have an adjuster in contact with me today and he can look things over and give his evaluation.

This afternoon will be operator standing by time as I wait to get the claims wheels rolling on the wheel claim. Even though it's not the best part of, it's still part of enjoying the good life,

  1. man ... brand new tires??? What's the story with that? Made me think for a second, I just bought new tires for my newly purchased Mini (future toad).

    1. Unfortunately full-timing you generally don't wear the tires out, they age out. Five years was the plan, but I moved it up a couple of months when the one blew. Just about 30,000 miles on the tires in 5 years.

  2. Good luck with the claim. Nice to know you have someone that knows what he is doing.

    1. I've been using Bakers RV for five years and try to hold stuff to bring here in the spring and fall just because he does know what he's doing. Just fortunate the blow out happened within 50 miles of here and I was able to nurse Mel here.

  3. Good luck with the claim. When I had my blow out, the insurance company didn't care. Now I'm regretting it because 2 years later, my storage area that got the brunt is now rotting! I didn't think much of it at the time as it's where I stow my sewer hose, but when I opened the door the other day to the storage area, the floor felt funny. Darn. Just another thing to fix huh?

  4. In talking with the adjuster it looks like the claim will be approved, now we just have to agree on a dollar amount.

  6. Well, I had several blowouts on FIRESTONE tires! I hope you can get your claim in the amount you need. I was able to get new tire and repair to my rig. I think I had GMAC at the time. I won't run Firestone tires any more, but I think the real problem was they didn't use metal valve stems!

  7. I hope they don't try and cheat you on the price.
I was told not to use Firestone tires by a few RVers and a mechanic.
