Triumph

This mornings glucose reading brought a real sense of  accomplishment to me. Considering a normal reading is considered to be in the 70 to 100 range and considering when the diabetes was first diagnosed the reading was in the 550 range, this mornings reading of 87 brought a real sense of satisfaction and accomplishment that the changes I've made are working. The changes in lifestyle have not been drastic and are certainly something I will be able to live with on going, emphasis to live with. Now I'm looking forward to the visit with my doctor on Wednesday to see where we go from here.

To celebrate the minor victory today I went on and did two loads of laundry while I was in a good mood. This is just more thing out of the way as I start thinking about moving out.

Today's package was delivered by the FedEx man but it is not something that is included in the Christmas gifts.

This looks a like work, but I'm willing, like my mentor Tom Sawyer, to share the fun if anyone happens to be in the neighborhood.

The rest of the day will be spent contemplating when the appropriate time to use today's package might be. Rushing into a project like this could get in the way of enjoying the good life.

  1. Hurry that cleaning on down to Rockport and I will be happy to put my extensive supervisory skills to work as you clean the carpets.

    1. You're too late Barney, I've already appointed myself supervisor in charge and am now looking for Manuel to do the labor.

  2. Slow down! You don't want to over do it and wear yourself out. ;c)

Good work on getting the numbers down.

    1. Paul, there's very little chance of that happening, I've got this full-timing thing down pat after 5 years of practice.

  3. That number sounds very heartening. Are these dietary changes you have been making?

    1. Some diet, but mostly walking at least 45 minutes a day and eating every three hours which actually cuts down the amount you eat per day. One major change was cutting back on Dr. Pepper from 5 or 6 per day to 1 per day.

  4. Boy, you must have really been feeling good to do two loads of laundry before you ran out of underwear! :)

    1. Sorry Michelle, it takes a good arm twist to get me to do my laundry and I've used all that energy up.

  6. Let us know how the carpet cleaning goes. I need to clean my tiny patch of carpet, and that "dry" cleaning looks like a good way to go. I only have a little hand held vacuum, but it should work.

Congratulations on your numbers! Great news. :)

    1. The reviews on Amazon looked like this product might work for the small spaces we own. I'll let you know.

  9. Great Job! You are doing the right things to take care of yourself. My mom was diabetic and her kidney doctor said "no more than one can of soda a day".

    1. I thought giving up D.P. would be hard, but water seems to work just as well.

  10. I love the numbers, that's terrific!!

By the way, how is the railroad building going? I was so impressed with the Trainz software that I went and ordered it. I'm anxious to hear what you think. Oh yeah, how long after you ordered it did it arrive. Since they are in Australia I'd guess it takes a while.

    1. Thanks Kenny. I haven't started building yet, I'm still running the rites that came with the program and getting the feel of the software. I ordered through Amazon and with my Prime account I had it in two days.
