Christmas day 2

Yesterdays visit from the UPS man, who now considers me a personal friend, brought Christmas day 2 to my doorstep. This morning it was time to install yesterdays booty which was a complete replacement of the water system from the faucet to the entry portal on Mel. This included new hose from the faucet to the twin water filters, two new water filter cartridges and a new short hose from the water filters to the entrance portal. I have found that after about a year the hoses have a tendency to begin growing stuff on the inside that looks like it came from an aquarium and it's amazing how clogged the filters get even on an approved city system.

Christmas package day 2.

New hoses and filters installed with the green water eliminated from the fresh water system.

Now that the heavy work is finished I have two chores left to complete today, 1st is watch the Cardinals afternoon game and 2nd is to keep an eye out for the UPS guy who should be bringing Christmas day 3. I have one other package, but it's in the hands of USPS so I won't even speculate when it might arrive. With all this activity I assure you I will still have time to enjoy the good life.

  1. That is a pretty neat water filter system you hooked up. Looks like Santa has been very good to you.

Good luck waiting for the USPS to get you your package, you-know-what will probably freeze over before then... ;c)

  2. Paul, the only thing on my water system not shown is the Valterra water pressure gauge at the faucet end.
As far as USPS it is never my choice.

    1. Thank you, clean water is really important to enjoying the good life. The very good boy statement is dubious as best, but at least I've got someone fooled.

    1. Two different types of cartridge. The first is a Sediment cartridge that is used to catch dirt, sand, mineral or metal particles. I use a 1 micron size, the smallest available. The second is a Carbon cartridge to remove contaminants that affect taste and odor by utilizing activated carbon in the form of solid block or granular carbon. Additional features are available with higher quality carbon cartridges, such as, removal of chemicals, bacteria, giardia and cryptosporidium cysts, or lead and heavy metals.

    3. Hmmm...I didn't realize there was so much to it. We just put an inline filter on teh hose and let 'er rip. Thanks for the link...I'll get educated!!

  7. I agree that fresh and good tasting water is important. I think tossing the hose after a year is a little extreme. I mix up a batch of water with a few drops of Clorox and pour it into the hose once a year. It seems to keep the little green bugs at bay. Just a thought.

    1. I'm sorry to disagree with you Kenny, but full timing with the hose laying out in the heat year round takes its toll. The hose begins to breakdown and soften. Buying a new hose is just cheap insurance.
