It's over

Well the experts were right, Indiana just didn't have enough horses to get past the Sweet Sixteen. It was a good game, but in the end Kentucky prevailed 102 to 90. Indiana still had a terrific season and will be a team to contend with in the next few years as Tom Crean's rebuilding program continues. When Coach Crean took over the program was in shambles after Calvin Sampson had loaded the program with NCAA violations. The 2008-09 season, Tom's first the Hoosiers were 6-25. He steadily improve the record and this year he was 27-9. That's a pretty good turnaround in 4 seasons. Next year should even be better with what many say is the 2nd best recruiting class in the nation arriving. Go Hoosiers.

Yesterday the new camera arrived and I've played with it a little, but haven't given it a real test yet. Here are a couple of pictures of what I got. It's the Canon Powershot A1200

Canon III on the left and Canon I on the right which will be retired. The firs thing noticed was how much smaller and lighter Canon III is.

The compact size and the point and shoot feature with an optical viewfinder is just what I was looking for.

Right now our skies are overcast and threatening rain, but if the weather will cooperate a bit I'll get out and test drive this now toy. Just another way to enjoy the good life.

  1. Hey John, I have the older silver camera that you show. I've rarely gotten good pics out of it, so I mostly use it for a video camera instead. When I want good photos, I resort to my big Olympus camera, which is now 10 years old!
I bought a table top tripod the other day at WalMart. It extends up to 42" & with the legs in, it's around 11". It'll be ok for usage with the small point & shoot camera. Isn't strong enough for my bigger camera, but it'll be cool for hiking & such since it folds down so small.

    1. TexCyn, the Canon A610 was responsible for the bulk of the pictures seen on the blog. It has been a good camera for me, but the lens cover now fails to open when it's turned on. It requires a flick of the finger to open and I don't always remember, so I've lost a lot of good pictures to my forgetfullness.

  2. An optical viewfinder is definitely a plus. Not always easy to find on a point and shoot. Hope you have lots of fun with it.

    1. My main camera is a Canon SX30IS with a 35X zoom, but it is too bulky to toe every where, thus the point and shoot camera.

  3. I like the size and if its lighter than the Power Shot SX110 is thats great. What is the optical zoom?
The Olympus are great cameras too. I want to look at the new one they came out with. They are really small and have large zoom lens that fold into the camera. I'm just afraid I will really like it and will be hard prest not to buy it.

    1. Optical zoom is the ability of the lens to zoom by moving in and out to change the focal length. I started in digital cameras with Canon and have just stayed with them so the software is all compatible. I currently have three cameras. Thanks for stopping by.
