Tucumcari tonight (this was town's slogan and was posted a few hundred miles in both directions on route 66) and I'm also here this afternoon. I made the 100 miles with no incidents and not road construction and that pleased me. Last night I stayed at the Corral RV park in Dalhart Texas that was recommended to me last spring by reader Bill. It was a very nice park, but the location would have been better if it was located someplace other than Dalhart. The air in Dalhart is a little heavy. The reason for this is due west of town there are several really large feed lots. I'm talking 10's of thousands of head of cattle and with a wind from the west the town takes on a particular flavor. The park also is located across the street from a railroad yard and there seemed to be lots of activity there last night.
One night in Tucumcari and then tomorrow it's off to Vaughn which will put me at an elevation of a little over 7,000 feet and some good sleeping weather. Just part of enjoying the good life.
Just a little odor LOL
ReplyDeleteI bet you will be glad to reach those mountains tomorrow. Be safe
