This morning we started out with a southerly attitude, but weren't sure of a route. We started toward Limon and after we reached there decided to head back to Lamar. 310 miles later we landed in Dalhart Texas for the night. A stop was made in Lamar for a Wal-mart recharge and then we had to deal with the Oklahoma highway department for over an hour and a half at one of the worst managed road improvement projects I've ever encountered. They had torn up about 6 miles of pavement and traffic was guided through with a pilot car at about 10 miles per hour. Somehow or another the north bound traffic got two turns while the southbound sat for over an hour. From what I could see when we started moving there must have been 50 to 75 cars in our line when we finally did move.
Tomorrows day will be much easier as we move to Tucumcari New Mexico which is only 100 miles away. By the way, just for reference, avoiding road construction is a way to enjoy the good life.
You are semi-close. I'm sending you good vibes.
ReplyDeleteRoad construction can really ruin your day. 1 hour is really way to long. Hope you have a much better day tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteMe too JOJO, two seasons around here, winter and construction.
ReplyDeleteWe endured a lot of road construction on our trip but fortunately we never encountered anything like you did. I'm sure it made for a really long day.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, why are you going back down into the heat? I thought you'd stay in the mountains until the snow flies.
runnerduck, I was sure glad I had my bathroom with me. The altitude at my next destination is 5,000 feet so it should be cooling down soon.
