It just keeps blowing

There just doesn't seem to be any let up in sight as the wind just keeps on blowing. Yesterdays high gust of wind was 48 miles per hour and it makes sitting outside and visiting a little difficult especially in an area with no ground cover to keep the sand in check. Opening your mouth to talk invites in  a taste of New Mexico and the grit just continues to blow. This morning the park owner was driving his water truck through the park wetting down the roads in an effort to save some of his real estate, but it was probably an effort in futility with the humidity at 25% the water was mostly gone as it hit the ground. We are also surrounded by fires as New Mexico continues to burn. Here is this mornings fire report from the New Mexico Fire Info Center. We are not effected by the fires here in Elephant Butte, but we can see smoke in the distance all around us.

Here's what the wind looked like for the last 24 hours around here and it just keeps on blowing.

Plans for today include staying out of the wind and if it lets up (not likely) I'll go out with the stapler and reattach the paint to Mel. Meanwhile it will be another day of enjoying the good life with an indoors perspective.

  1. there's a bad fire burning west of Alpine. Highwas was closed between Marfia and Alpine on Sun. Our grandaughters are safe for now but there's lots to burn out in the area where they live.

  2. It certainly seems I made a devent choice to come on down to the coast where the wind is much less troublesome. We are getting mainly steady 15-20 with gusts to 25. Too much for kayaking but enough to keep the mosquitoes under control.

  3. Judging from the wind chart all you got to do is sleep all day and get up about 11 pm and do whatever until about 7 am. Sounds like a plan to me.
