Mixed day

Today has been a mixed day. It started out having to say goodbye at 7:30 in the morning to two of my best friends as Roger and Brenda left heading for home in Mattoon, Il. At least I got to meet daughter Bobbie and son-in-law Jim and his mother who made the trip down to help Roger and Brenda get their stuff back home. They are really fun people.

Then this morning it was time for the parade. I rode over with Harley and Annis and we got set up in front of the courthouse ready for the parade. Just before the parade started we had the major excitement of the day. Six police cars and two pickup trucks came screaming up the street. They turned the corner and headed for the jail area. The reason for the escort was both of the pickup trucks beds were loaded with bales of marijuana. Probably several hundred thousand, if not a million, dollars worth of drugs.
Notice the black pickup in the center of the picture. The cargo is bales of marijuana.

The the parade started.

We saw lots of horses, but then we are in Texas.

The competition.
A large boom-box.

Tonight there's a gathering in the rec hall to here the results of the float competition and to eat a few hot dogs and chips. It will also give us a chance to pat everyone involved a pat on the back for another job well done. While we are doing all this we will be enjoying the good life.

  1. Warn every one about the sudden drop in IQ average when I pull into the park tomorrow. It can scare normal folks.
