Today we were going to have a BB stacking contest, but it has turned out to be too windy. Right now we are waiting for the temperatures to rise a bit and for the wind to die down so we can get on with the day. We are heading for 75 degrees today and there is lots of sun so things are looking promising.
Joe and Irene left yesterday in a bit of a rush. They have been here since before I arrived last year and had applied for one of the oil field gate jobs. They were notified yesterday about noon that they had to report for duty at 6pm. Needless to say it was a mad rush to get everything torn down and stowed to get on the road. The gate jobs are a sit and watch endeavor. You sit at the entrance to an oil field and check authorized vehicles in and out. The hours are 24/7 for a minimum of 30 days, but the pay is pretty good at $125.00 a day or $4,000 per month. If you can stand the isolation it's a quick way to fatten your wallet.
Bob and Connie also pulled out yesterday, heading for Colorado. They weren't too excited about the prospect of heading to snow country, but Bob has some scheduled surgery he has to attend to. We have a couple more people that are planning on leaving in the next couple of weeks to get back to work, so the migration north has begun.
Yesterday I received a shipment of supplies, so I have a couple of projects to keep me busy today. I'm starting to get things together to be ready to roll when the weather breaks. Even though I have projects there will still be time to enjoy the good life.
