Road trip

The nasty weather arrived as promised. We are at 53 degrees and have actually received some real rain. The sky is overcast and very dreary looking. I decided to go to Laredo today to restock the pantry and refrigerator. The trek to Laredo was run in rain all the way. Just before arriving in Laredo we encountered a Border Patrol check point. We made it through without incident. I don't think their heart was in it considering the weather and by the time I headed back to Zapata they were gone. Wal-Mart was practically empty, I guess the die-hard shoppers were worn out from the weekend. The lack of a crowd made shopping almost painless, that is until I hit the checkout counter and had to reach for my billfold. It was strange to see the locals wearing hooded parkas at 53 degrees. I don't think they would fare well in real cold weather. Shopping in Laredo was just another way to enjoy the good life.
