10 today, 10 tomorrow

I walked up one side of Route 66 and down the other snapping pictures. Ten of them today and ten tomorrow in the order I took them.

The Palomino Motel in the typical horse shoe style that was the standard motel design in the 50's/60's.

On the route.

The Apache Motel arrowhead sign.

The Royal motel. When Route 66 passed through town every other building on the main street was a motel it seems.

Something to separate the tourists from their money. Lots of these in town too.

You don't see too many glass bricks any more. Pretty common in the 50's though.

The Blue Swallow motel. A landmark on Route 66. More about it tomorrow.

A mural on the wall of the Blue Swallow.

Another look at the Blue Swallow. Notice each unit has a garage.

The Safari Motel. A design for the times.
