River views

I am now in Ray Behrens campground at Mark Twain Lake. Last night when I got here I found an old friend, Pat Calhoun, and her friend Russ. After I got setup they invited me along for a ride to look at the flood. We stopped at Mike and Jane's, Pat is Jane's mother, and then went to Lovers Leap which gives a good overview of the impact of the flood at Hannibal. The river dropped a foot yesterday, but that was just temporary as the river is expected to climb back up today with a crest on Saturday at 31.4' on Friday afternoon. This is just .4' below the record set in 1993. Here are some pictures I took.

The legend of Lovers Leap.

A view from the Leap. You can see the boat docks in the center right of this picture. This is the normal rivers edge.

A view of the water backing up into the low lying areas.

Another view.
