The trip to Old Guerrero made for a long day. It was 30 miles to the border crossing at New Guerrero and the 18 miles to the turnoff to Old Guerrero. The last 10 miles was on a dirt road that took an hour to travel. Guerrero was first established in 1750 and had a population of as many as 20,000 people around the turn of the last century. The town was moved to New Guerrero in the early 1950's before the filling of Falcon lake. The church shown in the photos below was a replacement for an earlier chuch that burned around 1850. I will post more of the pictures tomorrow.
