Hot, hot

Sitting in Mesquite yesterday I watched the thermometer continue to rise until it hit 108 degrees. Of course I got the air conditioning started late so it never did really catch up.  Today is a rain day, so it should be a bit cooler although we started the day at 90 degrees at 6:30 am. I managed to make it to the casino and then on over to McDonald's before the sky opened up. Tomorrow I will point myself back north in search of some cooler temperatures.

Here are the promised pictures of the dinosaur exhibit of the J. W. Powell museum.

You can see from the map that this entire area was under the sea at one time.

Another look at the boats.

River runner.

Another style.

And the scout boat.

It looks like with the rain and the fact that it's a half mile walk to the casino it looks like I'll be staying home today. (why take a chance on getting caught in the rain and melting) Not to worry, we'll still be enjoying the good life.

  1. I especially like the large Ammonite. With temps like those, I'd be on my way as quickly as I could be.

  2. Dang John you win in the bad temps department but we are both in the wrong part of the country at the wrong time. I will be heading out very early tomorrow. I only had 102 high today but at least the humidity was lower. Be careful and safe.

    1. I love museums. Actually salt has the same effect in the rain.

  5. Another great museum. It is difficult for me to image this entire area under water. So bizarre.

Our 16 days straight of rain finally ended yesterday. We don't want to see rain for several weeks...thank you very much.
