Chilly
I woke up this morning to 35 degree temperatures, that must be what all that wind was blowing in from Canada, cold air. The wind has finally died down to a more reasonable 10 miles per hour this morning, but I'm still hesitant to put the flag up until I see what happens as the day heats up. Yesterday winds reached 38 mph on the one cup anemometer, who knows what it might have been on the 3 cup model. A more telling indicator was the rain gauge. The gauge works on the tipping bucket principle. Like a teeter totter when one bucket fills it tips to empty and the other bucket fills.
Yesterday, without a drop of rain, Mel's shaking in the wind we managed to record almost 9 inches of rain just by having the teeter totter bounce back and forth and that was with the leveling jacks in place.
Today we are going to sit back and wait for the warm up before venturing out. I might work on the inch of dust that has been sent to me from Arizona and is covering every flat surface. This to shall pass and we will still enjoy the good life.
I am so grateful our wind has finally died down today. I was so sick of it. We got chilly here but not like you did. Only 54 last night which is cold enough for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm ready for a warm up.
Delete...but it's a DRY rain!!
ReplyDeleteThat's what it is.
DeleteNo worries about puddles...
ReplyDeleteNo spots on Mel either.
DeleteI thought you left all the chili down there in Texas! Obviously, John, you need to ditch that weather station...anything that's measured will get worse.
ReplyDeleteI've got to know how uncomfortable I am.
DeleteI bet they would like to have 9" of rain...maybe not all at one time.
ReplyDeleteSure would help fill up the lake.
DeleteWe are getting the wind but not the cold. Makes it difficult to walk on the beach.
ReplyDeleteYou don't want the cold, we get too acclimated to the warm temps.
DeleteThe wind has now moved over to Louisiana. Thanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteSorry, but I was tired of it.
Deletebe glad you aren't in MO....we watched all the counties west of us blow thru last night...kinda scary for a bit. 80 mph winds...straight winds they say...yeah, right!!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw on the news. 5 trucks fell over and went boom. Lucky no one was seriously injured.
DeleteI had nothing to do with that dust honest. It has been chilly here too.
DeleteI'm pretty sure it was the dust fairy.
