Boiling

The heat wave continues and yesterday a friend sent me this, sort of sums things up around here.

Yesterdays heat index topped out at 121 degrees and it's already at 106 for today. So like any thinking person I found it necessary to do a couple of loads of laundry this morning. The laundry room is a a small 6X8 room with no air conditioning, no fans and no windows and of course with 80% humidity no chance of drying anything on a single cycle. If an effort to raise the humidity in Mel the laundry was returned half dry and hung in the shower to complete the process.

I did make it to the office this morning and paid for a second week. The extension was confirmed yesterday after an email from Progressive Industries. You remember back in April I invested in a power management module to regulate Mel's power. Well after the storm in Bowling Green the unit was acting flaky.  It would run for two or three hours and then shut off. I emailed the details to Progressive and within two hours I had received and email from the company president apologizing for the problems and asking for an address so he could ship a new one to me. You don't find customer service like that any more.

Today's effort will be to prevent being par boiled while trying to enjoy the good life.

  1. I have an idea! After you attend to your appointments, how about a quickie to New England? It sure would look good on Mel's state map. Kennebunkport said 79/62.

  2. Mel and I have had a long talk an decided long ago that the east coast is not for us. I might go back to my winter home in Texas, I see it's cooler there today than where I'm at now.

  3. WOW! Heat index of 121. I'll never complain about the heat here in South Louisiana again. As long as its raining we're hovering around 90 degrees. Reading blogs like yours tells me where not to go next summer. Wishing you cooler climbs.

  4. Gypsy, it's okay to complain about the weather, we all do it. Normally it's mountains summer, south Texas winter, that's the advantage of a full timer.

  6. JOJO, I'm heading for Colorado as soon as I get done with the medical stuff. This is no place for a full-timer.
