Nuttin' honey

That's the answer to the question of what's happening today. It is very quiet in the park today as it is on most Sunday's The only thing to interrupt the stillness are the occasional fly overs by the Border Patrol helicopters.

This is a big change from last year when we might see one helicopter a week. This year, with the increased security on the lake we are seeing three or four fly overs a day. Other than that things seem more than normal.

Yesterday's football results were good. All three teams I follow won. This is a once in a blue moon event for the teams I follow. Now if the Broncos can win today it will be a weekend for the history books.

Word reached the park yesterday that an old friend had passed away. Butch grew up right across the river from my hometown of Hannibal and went to West Pike High school where we played against each other in basketball. We went our separate ways after high school and he retired from UPS a few years ago and assumed the life of a full timer, wintering here in Zapata. We became reacquainted when I started coming down here three years ago and I'll sure miss our discussions about the 'good old days' and the rivalries we shared growing up in the Hannibal area.

Today will be another day of doing nothing, which still remains unfinished and enjoying the good life, while absorbing some more football.
