Another couple hundred miles under our belt and one day closer to Zapata. We are now located in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Del Rio Texas and will be here for the night. When we arrived Mel was immediately taken in for a transfusion of new oil and all other fluids were checked and pronounced well. The drive today covered some 200+ miles of the most desolate country you would ever want to see, unless you are into tumbleweed and scrub oak. It is lonely country too. From Ft Stockton to Sanderson, a distance of about 65 miles, I saw a total of six vehicles. After Sanderson traffic picked up a little , but most of it was Border Patrol vehicles.
Tomorrow will be the last day on the road for our summer travels and we should be in Zapata by mid afternoon. A stop a Laredo will be made to fill the pantry for a month and conversely to empty the billfold and then it's on to Zapata.
The rest of the day will be spent unwinding and preparing for tomorrow.
