Lake Havasu was founded in 1964 by Robert McCullock (of chain saw fame) and incorporated in 1978 as a planned community. Mr. McCullock bought 35,000 acres for $75.00 an acre and planned the community. In order to promote the town McCullock purchased the London Bridge for $2.5 million dollars and reassembled it in the town. The site was Pittsburgh Point, a peninsula, which was turned into an island and then connected to the mainland by the London Bridge. Some more of the sights I saw.
Another view of the bridge.
Popcorn anyone?
How about a cruise on the Colorado River?
Do you need to make a call?
How about a boat rental?
Shopping on the river front.
More shopping.
Touring the downtown in Lake Havasu before the day got too hot was a nice way to enjoy the good life.
did you stay up and watch that ballgame last night? We turned it off in the last inning.
ReplyDeleteMaurice wants to know if you are going to Oatman to see the donkeys.
You mentioned Yuma wouldn't let you park in walmart. Sierra Vista won't either altho they have lost a big campground so it may be different now.
Anyway, you enjoy the good life. Be safe.

Sure did, long night, sad ending. I haven't decide on where to next, but probably will go to Oatman just to do another part of Route 66.
