All of a sudden the overnight lows have dropped to the 50's , but highs are still in the 90's+. At least we've got good sleeping weather.
Yesterday I bought my ticket for my next adventure this coming Saturday. I will be riding the Virginia Truckee Railroad to Virginia City. This is the home of the Comstiock mine and the Comstock lode and it was where the pen name Mark Twain was first used. An hour and a half each way on the train and three and a half hours to explore Virginia City should make for a full day of exploring.
Today's plan is to continue my reading of Mark Twain's Roughing it to see what little tidbits I can pick up about Virginia City and of course this evening there will be a ballgame. Still hoping for the Cardinal's to show up. I'm continuing to explore ways to enjoy the good life.
Have a great ride on the train. My husband subscribed to the Trains magazine, same that published your book. He wanted to take Amtrak to Reno and then go on to Virginia City - he never made it out there. I'll have to go and ride the train for him someday.
ReplyDeleteI subscribed to Trains magazine for years, lots of neat information. Sorry for your husband's dream unfulfilled.
DeleteNow aren't you getting fancy with that little train slide show? Hope you get to ride a steam engine.
ReplyDeleteThe slide show was just a screen capture from their site, nothing I did. Steam is supposed to run Saturday.
DeleteSounds like a real fun day!
ReplyDeleteThat's the plan. Hope it works out.
DeleteOh! I want to go on that ride. Looks like so much fun. I've ridden on a lot of trains over the years, but those old ones are the best! Reminds me of the coal driven locomotives that went through our backyard when I was a kid. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteThis will be the second for me this summer. I rode the Cumbres & Toltec back in the spring.
DeleteMy oh my...aren't we getting fancy with the slide presentation. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI just copied it fro the RR's site. Not much talent required.
DeleteYou do know that when the ride ends, you HAVE to get off?
ReplyDeleteIf the make me.
DeleteI'll look forward to your pictures and comments from Virginia City.
ReplyDeleteMe too.
