Seibert, Colorado

We arrived yesterday afternoon in Seibert Colorado just in front of the thunderstorms.  We ended up with three quarters of an inch of rain, lots of lightening and a little bit of hail. It also resulted in a real red sunset.

This is the last of the sunset.

I also arrived with a group of the harvesters. These guys are from Texas and start in the south and gradually work their way to the north as the crops ripen. They bring all the equipment with them including the combines. Because there are so many in a crew they travel in custom bunkhouse trailers.

Here's one of their bunkhouse rigs. 53' foot of  living space.

The other event yesterday was the awarding the state of Oklahoma the award for one of the worst roads in America. The trip through Oklahoma on US287/US385 is just a bit over 50 miles, but for the third time in as many years it has loosened my overhead light and caused it to fall. The light was checked previous to entering Oklahoma was secure. This light has been all over the country and the only place it has ever broken loose is in Oklahoma. With this in mind I officially designate US287/US38 a rotten road.

Here is the damage done.

I used this morning to run the vacuum and clean up the inside. I haven't done anything with all the repair work going on and it was time . I was sort of holding out for the maid to show up, but once again was disappointed. The afternoon will be spent watching the Cardinal game and catching my breath a bit before heading on to Hannibal. In short we'll just be enjoying the good life.

    1. They just out do the rest of the country by far and I felt they needed to be recognized for their lack of effort.

  3. Bunkhouse trailers...never heard of them but what a great idea.

Oh heavens...our light did the same thing in OK. Don't drive through Louisiana if you can help it. Their roads are worse!

    Gorgeous sunset!

    1. The bunkhouse is a great way to house a harvest crew as they move from the south to the north.
See, I was right about Oklahoma, the Weavers confirm bad things happen when you drive through the state.

  4. Good to hear your travels are going well. And you were able to clean your wheel estate.

    1. It got to the point where something had to be done. Same approach as I use for laundry.
