Williams, Arizona

We have moved to Williams, Arizona, the gateway to the Grand Canyon. I have taken a little walk around town to get acquainted and I made a stop at the train station to pick up my ticket for tomorrows train ride.
This is the station for the Grand Canyon Railway.
The interior still features the original ticket windows. It was built in 1908 by AT&SF railway at the same time the adjoining Fray Marcos hotel was built by Fred Harvey.
This is the entry drive to the Fray Marcos hotel.
This is the formal dining room servicing the hotel.

Around the property are scattered various pieces of railroad memorabilia.
Including one rather large display.
They have a few cars waiting to take us north to the Grand Canyon.
More displays looking back at the depot.
A look at main street which is probably better known as Route 66.
The Chamber of Commerce is housed in the 'old' depot which was built before the new one was built in 1908.

We are now settled in for the night and will kick back and take in the views while basking in the 80 degree temperatures, much better than 115 degree temperatures, while enjoying the good life.

  1. What a nice destination you have made. Everything looks nice and neat, especially your camp spot. I hope you are planning on a train ride to the canyon. It should be a great time especially now that the summer crowds are cooling down. Have fun.

  3. Enjoy your train ride. I know how much you love trains. I have never been to the Grand Canyon but hope to make it one of my retirement trips.
    Enjoy.
