Treat

Yesterday my neighbor, John, treated me to a piece of his made from scratch chocolate cake. What a nice gesture. Slowly the neighbors are coming out of their shells and we are getting acquainted. I guess there is a reluctance on their part to meet people that are only here a few days.  On the other side of the coin, the people that are only here a few days don't seem to be all that interested in meeting new people either. Maybe it's a west coast thing, but I have greeted several people on my jaunts around the park and been totally ignored. Not at all like mid westerners, these people seem to be in a world of their own.

This mornings fun consisted of cleaning and re-bandaging the stitches. This is a job that is very similar to what a one-armed paper hanger must go through. Applying a 3" X 4" bandage without getting it to fold over on itself is apparently not a natural skill and making it stick on a movable joint requires more savvy the I learned in my Boy Scout first-aid classes. Anyway, the wound is covered and seems to remain that way until I flex my arm and the wound is healing nicely.
This mornings activities included watching a couple of ultra-lights fly circles over the lake before they headed off to the north. It looked like they were doing ther part to enjoy the good life.

This afternoon we will be doing our best to keep cool as the temperature again heads back into the 90's. It's probably best that I got held up here a few weeks. If I had been on schedule I would have been close to Salt Lake city by now and they had snow yesterday. I'm not at all sorry I missed that. Snow is no way to enjoy the good life, no matter what the skiers tell me.

  2. The Pacific North West was full of very congenial folks. Those in the southwest that get near California seem to have the difficulty in greeting folks.

  3. Kritin sent a picture from her front yard and the neighborhood was covered in snow. Glad I'm not there either.

  4. I agree with "The Old Fat Man" the Pacific Northwest is ripe with really good folk as a lot of us originally came from the Midwest. My family migrated here in 1957 from North Bend, Nebraska. I still hold those good ol' Midwest values :-)
