Where the music died.

Last night when I check the map I noticed I was only 60 miles south of Clear Lake Iowa which gained it's fame the night of February 3, 1959 when Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper performed at the Surf Ballroom then boarded a plane that crashed 6 miles north of town, killing all three. A little piece of trivia the base guitarist in the band had a seat on the plane, but was bumped at the last minute. His name Waylon Jennings. Here are the pictures of the Surf Ballroom.
