Happy 4th of July

Today is a day to celebrate. As Lee Greenwood said 'I'm proud to be an American'. Today I plan to sit back, watch the race on TV and later the Boston Pops fireworks, also on TV. I will also spend some time being thankful that I'm no longer living on Bird street in Hannibal surrounded by 100,000 people who have come to Tom Sawyer days. I have also discovered I am getting more selective on what I want to see. Yesterday I passed on a chance to go to the Spam museum in Austin, Minnesota and I didn't drive 30 miles out of my way to see the 55' statue of the Jolly Green Giant. My loss, but I shall endure.
