Laredo, Tx

After we changed the oil in the generator (Mr. KW) Mel and I hit the road heading west and once again we didn't know when to stop. So we are now in Laredo right on the Mexican border. Laredo is called the gateway to Mexico and is the largest inland port in the US. We might have to stay here a couple of days and see what we can find. Mel is working too hard. We have already accumulated 2459 miles and the first month won't be up until the 22nd. I was able to find a barber/beauty shop this afternoon and I got a haircut for the first time since leaving Hannibal. The lady who cut my hair wasn't any better that the Skinner boys, but she sure was a lot prettier.

This is a view from the highway between Zapata and Laredo looking south. The water you see is the Falcon reservoir which is the result of a dam across the Rio Grande. Everything to the south of Falcon Lake is Mexico.

I was driving on US 83 which Texas has dedicated to the Vietnam veterans. Someone saw the need to add some punctuation with a rather large bore editor.
