Last day in Kingman

Today we are still in the weekend mode, but some prep has been done in anticipation of leaving in the morning. The holding tanks have been emptied, the sewer hose has been stowed and the fresh water tank filled. Before leaving there are just a few more pictures of the Kingman area to share. If you look at Google maps you will see what looks like two towns. The original town was built along the railroad tracks, but was limited by a ridge to the north. When the ran out of room they just went around the ridge and started the second part of the town.

The Fort Beale RV Park office.

The view from the office.

Downtown antique store mural.

A business block in the downtown area.

Municipal Court.

The Elks Hall.

A time capsule.

Mojave County Courthouse.

The museum that is never open at the same time I'm there.

The Bonelli House from the north.

And the south view.

AT&SF engine #3759 on display in a city park.

Ballgame this afternoon and any other activity will be strictly an accident, but that's the way it is when enjoying the good life.

    1. In the morning I'm heading east along the longest, still intact section of US 66 to Seligman and then on the Williams.

  3. Maybe our government should take a lesson from Kingman. They seem to be out of room...in terms of compromise...maybe we need to start a new government.

  4. It looks like a nice town and I like places where I can walk to town from the RV park, I will try to remember this city when traveling north. And trains, too, cool.

    1. Lots of trains, but that's true all along I-40. Here there is one about every half hour, night and day.

  6. That's an interesting Elks Lodge building. Loved your tour of Kingman. You covered it a lot more than we did.

    1. I think the local Elks are having a tough go of it, there was a 'For Rent' sign in the window.
