The first thing I noticed was how sun faded the weather station was as I replaced the one cup vane (on the right) with the three cup vane (already in place on the left). Once assembled and back on the roof I noticed a dramatic increase in the winds speed. The plastic used is not the strongest in the world so we will see how long the new one holds up.
Another UPS shipment is anticipated today. I have ordered a Windows 8 For Dummies book and instructional CD. This is probably a real cop out for someone who used to run a computer business, but Windows 8 is so different from the old Windows some help with the learning curve is needed.
Other than that we have a ball game on at noon and the day will be filled with enjoying the good life.
When has Windows every been that easy for a "normal" person to use. Now give me a Mac any day!
ReplyDeleteI cut my teeth on DOS before Windows and have always had a pretty good handle on things until Widows 8 threw all these new curves at me. Maybe it's that old dog new tricks thing catching up with me.
DeleteMy sister asked me to help her find a new laptop. when I found one on sale with Windows 7, I told her BUY IT!! I actually like some of those "Dummies" books. Well laid out, short bits (or bytes!) of information, and generous doses of humor.
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be a bigger learning curve with 8 than any other transition of Windows I've run into. Designed to touch pads, not computers.
DeleteNow, don't you go pointing that there wind measuring device in my direction now, ya hear?
ReplyDeleteProbably too much hot air in that direction, might run it off the scale, but I'll leave that determination to Donna.
DeleteIf you wouldn't park near all those tornadoes are, your cups would last longer... ;c)
ReplyDeleteI always try to avoid parking near tornados.
DeleteIt will be interesting to hear about your wind readings.
ReplyDeleteSo windows 8 is that bad huh.
Windows 8 has a big learning curve and takes a lot of getting used to.
DeleteHey we bought a weather station yesterday too. Haven't put it together yet but at least we have one.
ReplyDeleteYou'll probably come to rely on it like I have.
DeleteI loved Win7, after Vista,,lol, and when I looked at 8, Never ever want it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a piece of work for sure.
