Another reason

I was able to find another reason this morning to continue the procrastination of going to the grocery store. Today's Cardinal game with the Mets started at 11:00 am in New York and that was certainly reason enough to stay put. Apparently the heat wave is broken and so far today we are at 86 degrees. That's much better than the 100+ days we've had for the last week. The humidity has also dropped below 60% which makes the weather even more enjoyable.

Last night I saw something that I hadn't seen for 30 years and was rather surprised when shortly after dark what sounded like a jet turbine engine passed through the park. It seems Marengo is one of the few communities that still does mosquito fogging throughout community. Im' not sure why other communities discontinued the process, but the stalking of mosquitos is alive and well here.

Now that the game is over and the Cardinals have won I think I'll take advantage of the cooler temperatures and head out for a walk. Stretching the legs is another way to enjoy the good life.

  1. Most of the Texas coast still mists for mosquitoes. The old fogging machines actually used heat to make the fog. The newer equipment use high pressure nozzles to make the mist.

  2. I remember those machines on the Jersey coast when I was a kid. Didn't think they were still around either.

  3. I wonder what chemical's they are using these days. I remember back in the 50's when I lived in a small town in Nebraska we'd ride our bicycles behind the foggers for fun. At that time they used DDT! It's amazing my brother and I are still alive.
