The words 'easy installation' should be two of the most feared words in the English language. This morning I bit the bullet and installed the tire pressure monitoring system I received yesterday from Doran. The first task was to get the correct air pressure in Mel's tires. Airing dual tires is a trip in itself. The openings to access the valve stems require the touch of a watchmaker to access and line up the chuck. Once this was accomplished it was time to mount the receiver. A suitable place was located on the dash between the ScanPro and the Garmin. One more gadget on the dash will require and addition will have to be built.
Once the receiver was secured it was time to program in the sensor positions and the optimum pressure. Note the box refers to the 'easy installation instructions enclosed'. Apparently these were left out of my package, because all I got were the more difficult installation instructions. After the receiver was programed and the sensors were installed on each tire it was time to test my work.
The results were as expected, a working tire pressure monitor evidenced by the green light and a tire pressure reading that is right on the button. After reinstalling the wheel covers and putting all the equipment away it is now time to sit for the rest of the day and recover the body fluids expelled during the installation endeavors. Having the installation process in my rear view mirror is a very good way to enjoy the good life.
