This morning we are enveloped in a marine layer. What, you may ask, is a marine layer. Well, a marine layer is a special word we use for fog because we are close to the water. Not everyone can enjoy a marine layer. It appears that a marine layer is a step up from regular fog and sets us apart from folks who just have regular fog. I think it must be similar to lake effect snow, which is a special type snow reserved for people who also live near water. In either case the result appears the same. The sun is blocked and the warming of the surrounding air is slowed by this effect. Right now we are at 55 degrees, but when the marine layer burns off we should jump into the 70's.
Have you been following the progress of the flag counter in the left margin? We installed the counter on December 29th and have already accumulated 26 countries who have visited the blog. You can get more complete information about the hits by double clicking on the counter. I find it fascinating how this little blog can reach around the world.
Today's activities will be limited until the marine layer burns off, we wouldn't want to get soaked just walking around. Later we will make the rounds and see who is enjoying the good life.
I visited with u NY eve in the rec hall about your new camera, do have a question about how well it takes closeups of flowers? I have an Olympus right now that has 30 power zoom and also it does really well on small things.
ReplyDeletethanks, Elcina Buck
I haven't really tried it yet, but it does have a macro setting so I expect it will do really well.
