Alaska comes to Zapata

Last night the Alaska String Band made a stop at 4 Seasons to entertain us and a fine job they did of it. Attendance was good and everyone seemed to enjoy the show. They are a family of 5 from Juneau Alaska and they spend about 4 months a year in the lower 48 states entertaining. The rest of the year they entertain in Alaska on the cruise ships and various venues in their home area. Paul, the father of the group, stopped over this morning and we had a nice talk while he checked his email.

The hall all set up for the show.

Preforming on stage.

Quinn, on the bass, had a different hat for every song they did and some of them were way out there. They were a fun loving family. Yesterday on their visit to the boat dock Laura asked to borrow dad's phone. He handed it over, thinking she wanted to make a call or take a picture with the camera phone. Actually they wanted to protect the phone while they proceeded to push dad into the lake.

They left this morning heading for the valley and their next engagement, but it was sure fun having them with us for a day. It was sure nice to see a family who knows how to enjoy the good life.
