This mornings walk took me to the top of the hill here at the RV Park to get a look at the lake. When I arrived at the hilltop I noticed a couple in safety vests parked on the corner. An inquiry brought a response that they were working the Elephant Butte Triathlon. This is an opportunity for people who enjoy pain to experience it to the max in three separate categories all combined to produce maximum muscle ache. It started with a one mile run, then moved to a 26 mile bike ride up an down the hills in the area. This is where I became a viewer as they were just finishing up the bike ride and heading back to Elephant Butte Sate Park.
Once back in the park they were headed for a six mile run part of which was in the sand along the beach. The nice couple I was talking with said they managed to find about 350 people to participate who were into this kind of pain. I watched the riders pass for about an hour and by then I was too fatigued to continue.Yes, they made me tired just watching.
The rest of the afternoon will be spent watching the Bronco's and I hope the results are better than yesterday. The games I watched yesterday were a split with 2 wins and 2 loses. I have decided after this mornings activities the running of a triathlon would not necessarily be a way for me to enjoy the good life.
