As I coninued on to rim tour there were a few other buildings of note like the Hopi house.
And the original trading post was still in operation although not out of a tent.
There was the Bright Angel Lodge
Which was built around the original cabin/hotel of Bucky O'Neill.
There was also the Lookout Studio.
From a distance.
And closer.
All of this is perched on the rim and along the rim walk. Looking over the edge your are seeing millions of years of earths history as you look down the mile to the valley floor.
After three hours on the rim it was time to head back to the train for the return trip to Williams. On the trip back we were serenaded by an accordion player, not something you see on every train. Thank goodness. Oh and you remember the bad guys who met their fate in the morning shootout before the train left. Well by afternoon they had recovered enough to stop and rob the train, an amazing recovery.
Actually the trains engineer must have been in cahoots with them because he stopped the train and waited for them to board.
Today the wind has died and it's a beautiful day for heading east. We are going to see what we can do to enjoy the good life.
