Ready to roll

After three days with friends Sal and Shelly this morning is travel day as we head back toward Arizona. Yesterday was spent back on the Bolack Ranch visiting the Electro-Mechanical Museum on the ranch property. Tommy Bolack has a background in Electrical engineering and the means to collect things that appeal to him. He has created a Fibber McGee's closet that is just unbelievable. He has four large buildings crammed with an amazing array of anything electrical/mechanical. It runs the gamete of the largest collection of wire insulators you will ever see to oil well drilling rigs. He has a steam locomotive with a mail car and caboose and a DC 3 airplane, a military tank alongside a Wells Fargo stagecoach.

I must apologize for the pictures. Mr. Canon who has served us well for the last three years has suddenly developed a problem producing the high quality pictures he has been known for. This developed suddenly yesterday so the pictures taken yesterday are not what they should be. I will be working today to correct the problems with Mr. Canon or looking for his replacement. That said I will post some of the pictures taken yesterday to try and give you a sense of the Bolack Museum.

An oil drilling rig like everyone has laying around their property.
Some of the more common insulators.
Another group of insulators, notice the ones on the pole behind the bin. His rarer ones were on display in one of the buildings. There were thousands of them.
A boring machine as an electrical substation, to other common items found in homes across America.
An old sawmill.
This is Elvis's last Cadilac that was custom made for him. Notice the EP hood ornament.
This was a small garter snake we crossed paths with. He had plenty of places to hide on the ranch.

After a lunch at Chili's we returned to house and it was time to finish the battery replacement project that went south on Friday and had been postponed as long as possible, Different day, different moon phase or different attitude I'm not sure which, but the changeover was accomplished easier than expected and we are ready to roll.

Today we will be heading towards Holbrook Arizona to see what we can do there to enjoy the good life.

  1. My last Canon flitted in and out of those type troubles for about three months before total failure. I will not waste pictures possibilities on one that acts up again. Good hunting.

  2. Wow what a cool place. Being a newly retired engineer I have to add this place to my bucket list. As always, thanks for sharing.
