Arctic blast

I must thank our Canadian friends this morning for sharing their weather with us. Not that it was needed or wanted, but we got a blast out of the north last night that hasn't let up yet. Here is what my weather station looks like at 9:30 am this morning.

You've got to love a wind chill of 38 degrees on the 2nd day of May in the southwest desert. We are expecting these northwest winds to persist most of the day and the expected high should get up around 64. I'm not overly thrilled with this global warming.

On a happier note, the license plate tabs arrived in the mail yesterday. I will wait for a better day to do the installation. I can picture trying to install the tabs in this weather. Cold fingers peal the tabs off the paper and the wind yanks them out of my fingers. When they finally come to rest they are plastered on a telephone pole somewhere in west Texas. That's probably not an acceptable way to display your license tabs.

With conditions the way they are I expect indoor activity will be the standard for the day. We'll see if watching the wind blow is an acceptable form of enjoying the good life.

  1. Oh my ... and it's so beautiful in the Pacific Northwest right now! I'd send some your way but want to be selfish and keep it all for us. Sorry.

  2. We also have WIND but the temps are going to still be in the 90's. So no cold front here.

  3. Good thing you have that weather station, or you would never know how cold it was outside! We got some of that Canadian air about a week ago. They sure do like to share it with everyone here in the USA (after they go back home, of course)!! Good luck in waiting out the cold air, and getting ready to hit the road.

  4. I follow a blog that just posted snow in Indiana. This is the craziest weather ever.

  5. Super windy here at Riverside Campground at Caballo Lakes SP in the middle of the night. I woke up and closed the window, lowered the TV antenna and brought in the little mat outside the steps and went back to bed. Then I heard some clunks on the window and climbed down again to bring in my two hummer feeders attached to the windows. It was really cold outside. Then back to sleep.

In the morning it wasn't too bad. I was surprised, I expected high winds all day. It's windy this afternoon, but not bad - 11 mph. Tomorrow we'll be back to normal. :)

  6. I'd be willing to send you some rain along with that wind. Arkansas isn't exactly the nation's hot spot today...

    1. Be careful, you're getting pretty close to the spring snow belt.

  7. If you'd turn off that little fan you have on top of Mel, maybe you'd quit stirring up all that wind!!

  8. Crazy weather for sure. Yesterday, I had windows open, fans going & it was 91 inside my rig. Currently, at 6:45pm, it's now 59 outside. Will dip back down in the 40's tonight. But after thinking I was gonna die yesterday, I'm kind of liking this cold front! I can stay snuggled up in my cocoon. :-)

    1. About the same here. I think this would have been a motel night in PaT.

    1. Sorry about that. If this doesn't quit soon it's going to be a short summer.

  12. Sorry about your weather. It was high 70's here today but a front came through tonight and we are now in the 50's. Can I send the cold weather back your way?
