A trip to the Akta Lakota Museum

The Akta Lakota Museum and Cultural Center is located on the grounds of the St. Josephs Indian School. The school was founded in 1927 as a Catholic residential school and continues to this day. When I arrived at the museum I was greeted with the infamous 'no cameras' sign so I have no pictures inside the museum. I will say that it was a very interesting museum with a lot of artifacts. I also met Dave and Nate who both work for the school and found out that they were giving a tour of the school grounds and were kind enough to let me tag along. So not only did I get to see the museum I saw the school. To find out more about the school and museum go to their web site at http://www.aktalakota.org/
This is the statue you see when you enter the grounds of the school.

A tepee in front of the museum.
